Pivot Point Ordering

In many table service operations each table is assigned a "Pivot Point" or a designated place for the server to begin taking the table's order. This allows the server to ring in the items in the same order for every table in the restaurant. The point where this process begins is called the "Pivot Point"

DirecTouch Point of Sale has a special feature that allows the server to ring in the order for the table in the same fashion as they took the order at the table. This is sometimes called taking the order by seat.

No matter what you call it, the feature allows the food runner or server to properly distribute the food at the table without having a "food auction" with your guests. In addition to this benefit, ringing in by seat number makes it very easy to split the order once the guests are ready for their tickets.

  1. The system always starts the server with "Seat 1".

  2. Ring in all the items for that guest before moving on with the next.

  3. Touch the "Next" button to add another guest and begin ringing their items.

  4. You will now see that you are working on "Seat 2". Repeat these steps for each guest at the table.

  5. Once the entire table's order is entered you then touch "Send" to send all orders for the table.

  6. The server can always touch the "Review Order" button to see each seat's order.

  7. The order for each guest will be displayed.
