Deleting an Item

So often we get asked, "Can my servers delete an item?" This question lets us know that the owner is concerned about security and theft in their restaurant. Preventing/deterring theft has always been the basic core function of a cash register or point of sale system.

With the DirecTouch Point of Sale system we put the decision to allow cashiers, servers or bartenders to delete or void items in the hands of the owner. You make the decision if YOU want your employees removing items from the ticket and at what point YOU say "No".

Most often, owners will allow the employee to remove an item from the ticket PRIOR to sending the order to the kitchen. This is commonly referred to as an "Error Correct". What is described below is an "Error Correct".

To remove an item once it has been sent to the kitchen printer or once it has been paid normally would require a much higher level of security clearance.

Take a moment to take a look. Click "Watch a Flash Movie" or scroll down the page to read more about the feature.

  1. If you allow the operator to do so, they can "Void/Delete" any item on the ticket by touching the "Void/Delete" button and then touching the item.

  2. Once the order has been sent to the kitchen, we strongly encourage you to set the security level for this feature to be for management only. This will strongly deter theft in your restaurant.
